In collaboration with Goga Publishing House and Radio Slovenia – ARS Programme, ZKP RTV Slovenia is releasing an audiobook edition of Po vsej sili živ (Alive Against All Odds) by writer, columnist, youth worker, and ecological farmer Nataša Kramberger. The work, which received the Prešeren Fund Award last year and was nominated for the Kritiško sito Award, reveals through a seven-year story set on a small biodynamic farm the painful consequences of climate change and the perseverance of a farmer unwilling to give up. The novel is interpreted by actress Nataša Barbara Gračner, directed by Špela Kravogel, with sound design by Sonja Strenar and Matjaž Miklič. The audiobook can also be heard in the radio programme Odprta knjiga.

Po vsej sili živ (Alive Against All Odds)

The short novel Po vsej sili živ tells a story both about the coexistence of humans and nature and humanity’s deafness and blindness toward it. It explores the consequences of human greed on the environment, climate, and ultimately society itself, while also celebrating the remarkable vitality embedded in every living being. “For all these names — colloquial, folk, dialectal, humorous, poetic, threatening, cautionary, narrative, rough, delicious, awkward, clear... — bore witness to one single, unmistakable inheritance of our world: the art of survival. Vibrant and fertile; defiant and combative. One, shared: whole, complete. Alive-against-all-odds!” wrote literary editor Vlado Motnikar about the work.

Nataša Kramberger

Writer Nataša Kramberger (born 1983), recipient of the EU Prize for Literature and the Prešeren Fund Award, uses her genre-hybrid works to convey the idea that the world is one interconnected whole. Both idealistic and firmly grounded, she listens to the wisdom of previous generations while observing with concern the greed of the modern world. She admires the beauty and immense power of nature, acknowledges humanity’s smallness, yet remains convinced of the power of individual action. Her strength lies in storytelling.

Reviews

“Her writing is infused with a strong sense of connection to nature, openness to the transcendent and mysterious, as well as sharp and engaged reflections that encourage readers to reconsider their relationship to the increasingly visible changes in the natural environment — and to become the change they wish to see in the world.”
— Urban Tarman, ARS

“While Comparable Hectares focuses more on the personal — on changing one’s lifestyle, learning, and wonder — in Po vsej sili živ, Nataša Kramberger turns toward the global: her small farm reflects seven years of worldwide economic, ecological, and humanitarian crisis.”
— From the justification for the Prešeren Fund Award
