In cooperation with Radio Slovenia we are releasing a double CD by Papirnica Vevče Wind Ensemble that has recently marked its 120th anniversary entitled Our Story (Naša (Z)godba). The songs on the album represent the last decade of the work through a selection of musical pieces that were recorded during several Christmas concerts in the Gallus Hall of the Cankar Center (Cankarjev Dom) in Ljubljana and a spring concert at the Slovenian Philharmonic. The music will take you on a journey across the world across various musical genres and many other dimensions.

Papirnica Vevče Wind Ensemble

The story of the Orchestra began back in 1900 in the town of Vevče. But the story currently unfolding through your speakers or headphones began in 2010 with a trip around the world. For the next two years it continued as an exploration of musicals and a collaboration with the Katrinas trio. Only a year later, our concert Latin Fan#tasy took us on another journey across the Iberian Peninsula and South America. In the middle of the story in 2015, we took on the challenge of the Wind Orchestra Competition, taking part in the concert category. Because we like our concerts to “tell a story”, one was entitled Orchestra Stories, and another presented our Musi#cal Tales. In 2017 it was once again time to set out on a journey, this time exploring Slavic lands with our Slavic Bouquet. And a year after that, we paid our tribute to music and strayed into the realm of opera with our concert Viva Musica! Our story concluded with the concert One Thousand and One Nights and a visit to the Middle East. The orchestra’s story features many other guests who have joined us in various roles and in various chapters of our story: presenters, musicians, singers, dancers … We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your collaboration with our orchestra and being part of our story!
