Tomaž Pengov (29 September 1949 - 10 February 2014), "the singer of magical existentialism", as his long-time friend and poet Milan Dekleva called him, already made history in Slovenian songwriting with his first album Odpotovanja / Journeys (1973). His lyrical and at the same time critical songs, with their thoughtful form and depth of meaning, are still an example for many artists and imitators today.
On the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of Tomaž Pengov's birth, the music editorial office of Radio Slovenia's First Programme prepared the project Kamor greš … (Wherever You Go …) which also includes a double album of the same name. The first disc, Kamor greš …, (Wherever You Go …) presents eleven new musical arrangements of Pengov's songs from different periods of his career. In conceiving this part of the project, the creators wanted to emphasise the keen sense of narrative and poetic originality that Tomaž Pengov's entire oeuvre exudes. This also guided the choice of musicians and the ensemble David in ukradeno pero (David and the Stolen Pen) was born. Pianist David Trebižan's arrangements were based on his own experience of the individual songs and translated into the piano playing that forms the basis for most of the performances. He also gave the other musicians: Bojana Šaljić Podešva, Sergej Randjelović Runjoe, Tomaž Gajšt and Mitja Vrhovnik Smrekar enough freedom in the performance, and so the character of the individual songs was co-created with their own ideas. The responsibility for the direct delivery of the song's message was assumed by the singer Metod Banko, who further deepened the imaginative delivery of the text by shifting between singing and speaking. Their interpretation is thus composed into a sequence of musical stories that, with the power of words and music, lead us through the different shades of Tomaž Pengov's poetic worlds.

On the second disc Tomaž Pengov: Živo v Klubu K4 (Live at Klub K4) you will find a recording of the concert, which was not made with the intention of a sound release (compared to Pengov's later album Koncert - 2006), which is noticeable in the quality of the recording itself, and therefore it should be listened to primarily as a document of the time. It was recorded at the end of November 1994 at the K4 club by sound engineer Januš Luznar and producer and music editor Jane Weber.That night Tomaž Pengov performed before the American singer-songwriter Townes van Zandt; his performance was consequently relatively short, and his vocals sometimes get lost for a moment in the lively club mood in which the recording was made. From a thematic point of view, it is nevertheless worth listening to, as it takes us back to the moment in which it was recorded. At the concert, Pengov alongside songs from his three albums to date, also performed an early version of Gea, which he recorded two years later for his last studio album Biti tu (Being Here).
