ZKP RTV Slovenija, in cooperation with Radio Slovenia – First Programme, has released the album Domovini (To the Homeland) by the “most dangerous” Slovenian duo Hostnik pa Krečič. This is their third studio album and at the same time their first project not performed in dialect. The album was created in collaboration with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra as part of the award granted to Tomaž Hostnik, winner of the Festival of Slovenian Chanson. All orchestral arrangements were composed by Matija Krečič, while the lyrics are by Hostnik. The two artists jointly composed and arranged the music. The album’s producer is Tone Jurca, its visual identity was designed by renowned graphic artist Tomato Košir, and guest appearances include zither player Damjana Praprotnik and the male vocal ensemble Garažni decet. The album’s central theme is love for the homeland, yet it soon becomes clear to the listener that – as Hostnik sings – “there are a hundred kinds of love, not just one.” Musically, the album skillfully intertwines fragments of Alpine kitsch, reading-society patriotism, and more unconventional musical ideas, creating a distinctive artistic expression. The song Ljubim te, Slovenija rjava (I Love You, Brown Slovenia) was even censored years ago, when the Prešeren Fund Board removed it from the programme of a national celebration due to its allegedly inappropriate content. The album Domovini is already available in digital format, while the vinyl edition is expected in December.

Hostnik pa Krečič will premiere the album live tonight at 8 p.m. together with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, broadcast on the First Programme of Radio Slovenia in the Saturday Music Evening show, from Studio 26. The event will be hosted by Andrej Prezelj.
