A science fiction comedy for children. The first Slovenian science fiction film, made in 1988 by the master of youth film Jane Kavčič, and also the first Slovenian film in which stuntmen played a more prominent role, when Mambo and Zambo chase Maja and Gubangu along the coastal roads.

SYNOPSIS

This is a story of a class of starboys who, with an exploration spacecraft, go on a "nature school" expedition to study life on Earth. Because they each possess a device, sort of luminous badge, they appear invisible to people from Earth. But the desire of Gubangu the starboy to get to know the Earth beings is so strong, that he can not suppress it. He befriends the girl Maya and, of course, gives her the badge, so that she would be able to see him. This causes a whole series of problems, both on Earth and on the Spaceship. Of course, it all turns out fine in the end.

ABOUT THE FILM

The film Maya and the Starboy starrs Dario Ajdovec (Gubangu), Marko Derganc (Zambo), Maks Furijan (Tabuman), Vesna Jevnikar (Teacher) and Ana Papež (Maja). The screenplay was written by Emil Filipčič and Jane Kavčič, the latter also directed the film, the director of photography is Valentin Perko, the composer is Urban Koder, the editors are Stanko Kostanjevec and Zvezdana Sabotič, the production designer are Ratko Ristić and Janez Kovič, the costume designer is Zvonka Makuc and the make-up artist is Anka Vilhar.
