The first Slovenian feature puppet film, created in 1965 on the basis of the first Slovenian radio play for children, written in 1952 by Fran Milčinski Ježek. Three years later the play was adapted for Ljubljana City Puppet Theater, directed by Jože Pengov and visualy designed by Mara Kraljeva. The play immediately won over both domestic and foreign audiences, and in 1965, on the initiative of Črt Škodlar, the first color Slovenian feature film with puppets was made after the theatre
performance.
SYNOPSIS
The godfather Moon sends careless and unpunctual Sleepy Star to the Earth. Sleepy Star meets the robber Ripper whose heart is made of stone. After a series of incidents Sleepy Star manages to find the bandit’s true heart and finally gets to return to the starlit sky.
ABOUT THE FILM
In the film Sleepy Star puppets are voiced by Mila Kačič (Zvezda), Stane Sever, Nace Simončič (godfather Meseček) and Alenka Svetel (Zvezdica Zaspanka). The screenplay was written by Frane Milčinski, film is directed by Jože Pengov, the animator is Črt Škodlar, the director of photography is Veka Kokalj, the author of the music is Franc Ogrizek, the editor is Ivo Lehpamer and the production designer is Ivan Pengo
