At ZKP RTV Slovenija, in collaboration with Morfem Publishing House, we are releasing the CD Andreja Zupančič: Glasbočasnice. The project features ten newly arranged songs for children and families, offering high-quality musical content designed to encourage spending time together through music, play and imagination. Glasbočasnice marks 25 years of Andreja Zupančič’s creative work in children’s music. The recordings feature acclaimed Slovenian musicians: Blaž Celarec (drums, percussion), Gregor Cvetko (bass guitar), Miro Novak (acoustic guitar) and Andreja Zupančič (vocals). They were joined by guest musicians Boštjan Gombač (flute, clarinet, melodica, whistling), Rok Lopatič (piano), Damir Jazbec (harmonica) and Aleš Mlakar (tuba). Robert Zupančič served as executive and music producer. “To celebrate my 25 years of creating music for children, during which I have written more than 50 original songs, I wanted to mark the occasion with a fresh project. For a long time, I had been thinking about recording songs of traditional origin that I used in my music classes for children and their parents. Years ago, I adapted them into Slovenian for use in my classes, and they still needed a fresh musical treatment. That is how Glasbočasnice was born – not merely as a new project, but also as an invitation. An invitation to parents and children to put down their screens, connect with one another and spend precious time together through music and play. For this occasion, I joined forces with outstanding musicians and friends who strive to understand and feel the world of children as deeply as I do. Our time together at Štala Recordings studio, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Posavje region, resulted in a warm and high-quality musical interpretation. Whenever I create music for children, I like to recall a saying by my fellow native of Bela krajina, the poet Oton Župančič: ‘When it comes to children, even the very best is barely good enough.’ This thought guides me like a little light while also reminding me of my responsibility. Oh, and I have a special fondness for the word deca – that is what we call children in Bela krajina,” says Andreja Zupančič. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katarina Habe from the Academy of Music at the University of Ljubljana adds: “The Glasbočasnice project also stands out for its high standard of performance. The involvement of acclaimed musicians gives the project a high-quality sound that is both artistically convincing and appealing to listeners. This is particularly important in music intended for children, as the quality of their first musical experiences has a significant influence on the development of their musical ear, aesthetic sensitivity and overall relationship with music.”
