ALDO KUMAR
Aldo Kumar is a composer with an extensive and diverse oeuvre. He writes vocal, chamber, symphonic, vocal-instrumental, film and theater music. He has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work in Slovenia and abroad, including the Prešeren Fund Award and three Borštnik Awards for theater music.
His most important works include: Passion for Symphony Orchestra and Organ, Istral for Symphony Orchestra, On the Strings of Mercury - cantata for mixed choir, tenor, baritone and symphony orchestra, Forehead of the Alps for large symphony orchestra, Varda concerto for piano and symphony orchestra on the seventh day for symphony orchestra, Triluna for symphony orchestra, Slovenian suite for orchestra, Improstrastra for big band and piano, soloists and mixed choir, Istrian suite for string orchestra, Post Art or Glej, Wolfgang writes for piano and string orchestra, In krave would be enchanted for chamber orchestra, Nostalgia for chamber orchestra, Jump over the edge of the world for youth choir and orchestra, Fish on Poplar sings for children's, youth, mixed choir and chamber orchestra, Al 'hell or' heaven short opera in one act. He constantly collaborates with various conductors (Marko Letonja, Milko Lazar, Simon Dvoršak, Anton Nanut, Uroš Lajovic, Marko Munih, David de Villiers, Patrick Fournillier, Simon Robinson, En Shao, David Harman, Robert Šervenikas, Keri-Lynn Wilson, Simon Krečič … And with performers (Bojan Gorišek, Milko Lazar, Vasilij Meljnikov, Irena Yebuah, Jože Vidic).
He is the author of numerous choral compositions, which have become a permanent repertoire of the most prominent Slovenian choral ensembles under the direction of conductors Matjaž Šček, Stojan Kuret, Martina Batič, Ambrož Čopi and many others.
He has written and produced music for many feature, television and short films (Under Her Window, Good Night Miss, Trieste is Ours, Aleksandrinke, Adria blues, Dom, Tune…)
His opus of stage music is also extensive - he is the author of music for more than eighty theater performances and stage projects, in which he collaborates with all the most important theater creators in our area (Janez Pipan, Meta Hočevar, Matjaž Zupančič, Diego de Brea, Vito Taufer, Neda Rusjan Bric, Marko Sosic, Mateja Koleznik, Mile Korun, Dusan Jovanovic…)
