Border Post (Karaula) is a comedy by Rajko Grlić about people who are only one step away from tragedy. »Before every natural disaster, be it an ordinary summer storm or a real cataclysm, there is a moment of complete silence. A moment in which everything stops and also a moment in which no one wants to talk. This happens in nature, in society and in all civilizations. Border Post is a comedy that takes place in one such moment« (Rajko Grlič, director and screenwriter). The international coproduction of the countries of the former Yugoslavia received the Audience Award at the Trieste and Golden Arena at the Pula Film Festival for the role of Emir Hadžihafizbegović.

SYNOPSIS

At a small border-post on the Yugoslav-Albanian border, another generation of soldiers suffering the usual amount of boredom awaits the end of their service, counting days to the moment when they should take their uniforms off. It is the spring of 1987 and the thought never even crosses their mind that they would, in fact, put them back on quite so soon and go to war. These are the last days of the country called Yugoslavia. Yet no one knew that, at the time.

The director is Rajko Grlić, who wrote the screenplay based on the novel by Ante Tomić, the director of photography is Slobodan Trninić, the musician is Sanja Ilić, the editor is Andrija Zafranović, the costume designer is Sabina Buždon, the make-up artist is Mojca Gorogranc Petrushevska, the sound recordist is Nenad Vukadinović, the sound designer is Srdjan Kurpjel, coproducer is Danijel Hočevar from Vertigo.
