SYNOPSIS
Documentary At the End of Trieste Street presents Peter Brumen, the man who took the lead of Slovenian deaf men’s basketball team for the world summit and the central figure of basketball of Slovenian minority in Italy. Accurate observer, who drags out the best abilities of every player.
The documentary film Divisions (Delitve), based on the testimonies of three generations of Slovenes, sketches the drama of emigration, homelessness, losing the old and embracing the new national identity. Among the more than 50,000 Slovenes who left their homes in Gorizia, Trieste and Istria due to the growing pressure of fascism and the economic crisis, around 60 families moved to Macedonia in 1931, to the village of Bistrenica on the Vardar, 100 kilometres from Skopje. The emigrants believed that they were coming to a promised land where no one would persecute or oppress them because they were Slovenes. They could not have been more wrong.
