The Time of Crisis is now available online in digitized and restored versions, in the quality seen by viewers at its 1981 premiere.

SYNOPSIS

The film scores particularly as a psychological study of a student dropout. It focuses on Pavle Komel, a young man who shuns even the most elementary relationship with previously close friends and acquaintances. A final attempt to find himself via a return to his childhood roots in a rural area, followed by a brief contact with his estranged father, prove fruitless. In the end Pavle decides to quit his studies altogether at the university. He also breaks up with his girlfriend over the phone and sits in front of a blank screen.

ABOUT THE FILM 

Many famous members of the artistic and intellectual circles of the 1980s performed in Franc Slak's feature debut, including Peter Božič, Marko Derganc, Ivan Volarič Feo, Emil Filipčič, Tanja Rener and Niko Goršič. The central character Pavle Komel is played by Roberto Battelli, who later worked as a journalist and politician (he was repeatedly elected to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia as a representative of the Italian national community). The screenwriter and director is Franci Slak, the director of photography is Radovan Čok, the editor is Sonja Peklenk, the production designer is Ranko Mascarelli and the costume designer is Daša Sem.
