Based on a newspaper story, director and screenwriter Danis Tanović, who won an Oscar for No Man's Land, has made a moving docudrama in which a Roma family plays out an episode from their own life far from the urban centres of Bosnia and Herzegovina. “The film is a reconstruction of true events and aims to draw attention to the discrimination faced by minorities, especially members of Roma communities in today's Bosnia and Herzegovina. I believe that this story needs to be filmed in order to emotionally grasp the hardships experienced by people on the margins of society and to ask ourselves: What kind of people have we become?" SYNOPSIS

Senada is 31 and she lives in old Roma neighborhood Poljice in central Bosnia with her partner Nazif and two daughters. She is pregnant with her third child for approximately five months. Since she does not have health insurance, she do not go to the doctor's – she does not have the money for the appointments. When she starts bleeding, she had to go to the Lukavac Health Center. After an ultrasound scan, a doctor in the Health Center concludes that Senada must urgently go to the City Hospital in Tuzla for an emergency surgery. But in the Hospital Nasif and Senada are given a number of the hospital's bank account with the request for payment of 500 EUR. They have no money, but the rules are rules. Without a health insurance card and money, Senada returns home. For the next 10 days, Nazif is trying to save Senda's life the best he can.
