An international coproduction of four countries (North Macedonia, Belgium, France and Slovenia) by director and screenwriter Teona Strugar Mitevska. A story of three sisters trying to cope and survive in the harsh times that have befallen them. The socialist revolution has failed. Social security has become incompatible with the new neoliberal formulas of social transition. The door has been thrown wide open to the nouveau riche, the unscrupulous profiteers, hungry for recognition and prestige, convinced that everything can be bought. The protagonists are thus torn between the present and a whole new set of circumstances and the legacy of the Balkans' complicated historical past, which further complicates their lives. »I believe in telling contemporary stories in cinema, reflecting on issues and dilemmas that are important for one’s society and culture. And what is contemporary is not necessarily political, as one expects in the Balkans. There are also economic, cultural, social factors, as well as the traditions that make Macedonia and the Balkans what they are« (Teona Strugar Mitevska, director).

SYNOPSIS

Film is set in contemporary Macedonia, in her social and cultural realities. The three sisters fight against the norms but also long to be a part of them. Due to the rapid changes and great confusion of the past decade, the conflict, war, and transition - political and economic, many negative aspects of our society have surfaced, and the three sisters struggle to find their places as women and equal citizens in this deteriorating world.
