The international coproduction Stitches was one of the winners of Berlinale. The film travelled around the world and won several other awards, including in Beijing, Las Palmas and Sofia. It was directed by the Serbian director Miroslav Terzic and written by Elma Tataragic. It is based on real events that took place in Serbia over the past decades. With uncertainty about whether the story is a lie or an imagination, the film skilfully weaves a tense psychological drama with elements of a thriller.

SYNOPSIS

Ana’s life is changed dramatically by a chance discovery that the child she gave birth to 17 years ago and was declared dead, is still alive as she has always suspected. Although her fixation on learning about the past brings her into conflict with her family, Ana will not rest until she finds out the truth. Stitches is a story of one woman against society in search of justice, which is just as cruel as the lies she used to live with.
