Legendary Slovenian clarinetist, arranger, and founder of the Green Town Jazz Band Borut Bučar – Bodo celebrated his 90th birthday on July 10 this year. To mark this remarkable milestone, ZKP RTV Slovenia is honouring the musician with a reissue of the album Čudoviti izdih (A Wonderful Exhale), performed by the Borut “Bodo” Bučar Quintet and originally released in 2022 in collaboration with Radio Slovenia – ARS Programme. The musicians — Borut Bučar (clarinet), Blaž Jurjevčič (piano), Primož Grašič (guitar), Goran Rukavina (double bass), and Bruno Domiter (drums) — carefully selected compositions by jazz masters, works imbued with a distinct aura of timelessness. Among others: What a Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong / Bob Thiele, George David Weiss), Somebody Loves Me and Strike up the band (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin), Stranger on the Shore (Acker Bilk) and instrumental versions of songs by Mojmir Sepe Zemlja pleše (Earth Dances) based on the text by the poet Gregor Strniša and Poletna noč (Summer Night) based on the text by Elza Budau. The album concludes Ave Maria by Franz Schubert.
