Nina Strnad, one of the most renowned Slovenian singers presents her original music to a wider audience after a career spanning more than twenty years and numerous successes on national and international stages. She heralds the release of her debut album with a composition entitled Hurt performed by the Big Band RTV Slovenia conducted by Tadej Tomšič and arranged by Grammy Award winner Michael Abene. The song was released by ZKP RTV Slovenia in cooperation with RTV Slovenia Music Production and Radio Slovenia - First Programme.
The basic idea for the song was conceived in 2012 during Nina's studies at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. The lyrics are about the pain of breaking up with a lover. The overall shape of the song was created in collaboration with Jaka Kopač who contributed the melody and harmonies for the instrumental interplay between the verses. In 2015 Nina invited the excellent arranger and Grammy award winner Michael Abene who wrote a big band arrangement for the song.
