IZRAZI HARMONIK - EXPRESSIONS OF ACCORDIONS
Miha Debevec is a double absolute winner of the most prestigious diatonic accordion competition in Attimis, Italy. He has also won several other remarkable competitions in Slovenia and abroad. The artist is regularly giving concerts for numerous respectable Slovene organizations such as National Olympic Committee, National Tourist Organization, Government PR and Media Office etc. He appears on Slovenian radio and television as well as in foreign
television broadcast (CNN, 3sat).
Tomaž Rožanec is a widely acclaimed master of concert accordion. He has graduated at the famous Franz Lizst Academy of Music in Weimar, Germany.
Since mid-decade the two accordionists have joined forces in the "Battle of Accordions" project. Their first album Spopad harmonik (Battle of Accordions, 2007 - ZKP RTV SLO 109904) merging different genres of music (classical, ethno, pop. rock) has been well received by both the audience and critics. It has been successfully presented also on international stages (from Istambul, Turkey, to Bruxelles, Belgium, and New York, USA).
Their new album Izrazi harmonik (Expressions of Accordions) makes further steps into trans-genre spheres and introduces a number of widely acclaimed new Slovene quality pop stars: Gal and Severa Gjurin, the rappers Murat & Jose,... It rediscovers Metallica's Sandman and rock'n'roll oldies goldies Blue Suede Shoes and Are You Lonesome Tonight?, jumps over the walls between the Balkan and Slovene roots music and reinvestigates both classical and folk paradigms into deftly
interwoven amalgam of musical genres, also exploring the boundaries of accordion performance.
