Slovenska popevka - The Slovene Pop Song festival is the oldest and still most prestigious national popular music event in Slovenia. Its first edition was in 1962. In the sixties and seventies it was the national annual highlight of quality production of popular music. It is closely linked to the phenomenon of the golden years of Slovene Pop Song (presented by the outstanding double CD compilation First Forty Years - Prvih štirideset released by our label (CD 107016).
In the eighties it quickly faded and was revived in 1998. For the last few years most of the songs presented there have been again acclaimed for its high quality, ranking at the top of the annual mainstream pop music production in Slovenia.
The Slovene Pop Song 2010 edition was held on 19 September 2010. The most prestigious awards of its jury - the best interpretation and the best song of the festival - were given to the lady singer Darja Švajger for the song Otok ljubezni - Island of Love. The best song according to the votes of the audience was Nova pomlad - New Spring sung by Katja Fašnik in Rok Ferengja. The best festival lyrics were the ones in the song Romantic Night sung by Kristina
Oberžan and the best young composer was Gašper Radojevič for the song Tisto, kar ostane - That What Remains sung by Slavko Ivančič.
