Slovenska popevka - The Slovene Pop Song festival is the oldest and still most prestigious national popular music event in Slovenia. Its first edition was in 1962. In the sixties and seventies it was the national annual highlight of quality production of popular music. It is closely linked to the phenomenon of the golden years of Slovene Pop Song (presented by the outstanding double CD compilation First Forty Years - Prvih štirideset released by our label (CD 107016).
In the eighties it quickly faded and was revived in 1998. For the last few years most of the songs presented there have been again acclaimed for its high quality, ranking at the top of the annual mainstream pop music production in Slovenia.
The Slovene Pop Song 2011 edition was held on 18 September 2011. The most prestigious award of its jury - the best song of the festival - was given to the singer Rudi Bučar for the song Naj traja - It Should Last. The award for the best interpretation was given to the singer Anika Horvat for the song In Situ. The best song according to
the votes of the audience was Tukaj si - Here You Are sung by Marko Vozelj. The best festival lyrics were the ones in the song Drobne slike - Tiny Pictures sung and written by Bilbi and the best young performer was Samo Budna with the song Sončna hiša - The House of Sun.
