At ZKP RTV Slovenia, in cooperation with Radio Slovenia – First Programme, we will be releasing a vinyl record in the first half of March entitled Tomaž Domicelj in prijatelji/ce: Življenje je lepo ... In addition to Tomaž Domicelj, the songs are performed by Nina Pušlar, Nina Strnad, Jan Plestenjak, Helena Blagne, Nuška Drašček and Lara Baruca, accompanied by the RTV Slovenia Big Band and the RTV Slovenia Revue Orchestra. The LP also includes a streaming download code. The richly designed inner sleeve — created together with the cover artwork by Igor Ribič — features all song lyrics as well as action photographs of the performers. The vinyl is available for pre-order with a 15% discount, and buyers will receive it in the first half of March.

“In the mid-1960s I stepped onto the rock music path, which gradually evolved into guitar-and-organ singer-songwriting. I first broke into the demanding world of pop songs alongside many older and more experienced colleagues through Slovenia’s black-and-white television screens. At the same time, at the invitation of renowned and highly trained composers, I began appearing at major festivals — which by today’s standards were the only true marketing platform for reaching a wider audience. In 1970 I took part in the Youth Festival for the first time and, under the strict guidance of Jože Privšek, presented two of my compositions with the then Dance Orchestra of Radio Ljubljana. One was sung by Edvin Fliser, the other by Alfi Nipič. For the latter I received an award, and on this album it appears for the first time in my own performance — Zbogom, sin The following year I dared to step in front of the orchestra both at the festival and in the studio to sing my song Stara mama. Since then, alongside a catalogue of more than a thousand radio archive entries bearing my name, over sixty orchestral arrangements by more than a dozen outstanding composers have accumulated. I therefore selected several pieces that I felt deserved wider release than just a few performances or broadcasts. The editor of Radio Slovenia’s First Programme, Alja Kramar, supported the idea, and today’s RTV Slovenia Big Band, conducted by Tadej Tomšič, recorded half a dozen of my older and newer songs. I added vocals, harmonica, a friendly quartet — and one powerful live blues for good measure. That is Side A. Side AA is the other half of the album, featuring the festival orchestra expanded with symphonic musicians under the baton of maestro Patrik Greblo. The recordings were produced by the perceptive producer Rok Lopatič, who sharpens his ear on international stages with quite different music known as Laibach. Two live vocal performances and four studio recordings, five women and one man — this is the collection we first presented on the grand stage at the opening of the Ljubljana Festival in 2023 as Poletna noč – Srečen dan,” Domicelj said about the album.
